Let me preface today’s post with a GARGANTUAN DOSE OF GRATITUDE!!!
THANK YOU to everyone who reads my little blog. And a special thanks to my bloggie friends who leave comments/and/or email me. It means more than you ever will ever know. I try to respond to every comment/stop by everyone else’s blog with every fiber of my being…but sometimes I get lost under a mound of laundry or…you know how real life is.
BUT…I do try and will continue to try. We have a real family, you and me. The blog world is a family, don’t you think? I’ve found the most sweet, gifted/talented and truly kind folks and I appreciate your kindness from the bottom of my heart!
Even though I have a gazillion (and one) photos from Italy to share with you, I thought for this week’s Tablescape Thursday at Susan’s truly beautiful Between Naps On the Porch that I would reach back in time to a post I did before, over a year ago.
I’ve edited it a little differently, but some of the pics are the same. I’d just gotten my beloved new camera from my even more beloved Mr. Stoic (Tom) and had just started to really play with depth of field, close-ups, etc.
The tablescape was an amalgamation of pieces I already owned and really is a testament to what you can do with very little budget. Seriously, folks!
Yes, my Waterford champagne flutes (purchased for my birthday by Mr. Stoic when we lived in England) are top of the line, but there are only two of them. The simple, and very inexpensive, Dublin crystal glasses are workhorses for me, utilized in myriad ‘scapes, as are my white dishes.
The white dessert plates are from Horchow, a purchase I made several years ago with gift money from my parents. BUT…they were the LEAST expensive and on sale!
The aqua tulle—SUPER CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP—candles & aqua ribbon are all re-used from my daughter’s birthday party the previous year. And of course I got those items super inexpensively, too.
The little eggs were after Easter clearance purchases for 99 cents for the bag.
But my tour de force inexpensive item and the only one that was new on this table was the $5 soup tureen I purchased at my church’s thrift store.
Yup! I will be sharing this with my bloggie friend, Rhoda, at Southern Hospitality, because this second hand thrifty treasure is truly a treasure to me.
I'll also share this with the equally wonderful French Country Cottage and My Romantic Home's weekly blog linky parties!!!
I LOVE IT! Look at those curves!!!
She’s a VA-VA-VOOM gal, don’t ya think?? ![]()
The little aqua plates on which the candles/egg rest are some I’ve seen elsewhere in blogland and I love their intricate edges and pale color and since you guys have them, too, you know how inexpensive they were!
The white aqua dinner plates with the chocolate brown scrollwork/napkins/cutlery and aqua napkin ring holders I purchased a couple of years ago for practically nothing at a clearance event at Old Thyme Pottery. That’s a super store for super deals!!!
Even my beautiful table is basically thrifted because my mother-in-law, a fantastic interior designer in North Carolina, got it used for me and refinished it. She did a marvelous job and I treasure it.
I love being able to create something beautiful for very little money. It helps me be a Proverbs 31 woman and stick to a budget to be a good wife/mom/human being,
Necessity is the mother of invention, resulting in enhanced creativity because I must work within the confines of what I already have/a limited budget.
I promise OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODLES of new photos from our grand Italian adventure tomorrow or the next day, so please check back in soon!
Love always/hugs/blessings/aqua nest joy,
Lana In Italy
